June 2026

Dear Friend of God’s Resort,

Thank you for partnering with us!! Lives are being changed every single day because of your caring and faithful support.

Our world runs on social capital – what many call “relational currency.” It represents the people in your life whom you can trust, and who trust you in return. At God’s Resort, we are constantly working to expand and enrich our residents’ social capital. One of the ways we do this is by encouraging them to participate in a wonderful community organization called Bridges of Joplin. The principles we teach at God’s Resort are reinforced there, and our residents are able to build reciprocal relationships – finding people they can help, and who can help them in return.

During the last Bridges class, three of our residents – Cory, Brendan, and Drew – met a man named Chris. It wasn’t long before the four of them became good friends! Chris later shared that he saw something in those guys that he deeply wanted for himself: he noticed the way they carried themselves as true men of God.

To make a long story short, Chris is now one of our newest residents at God’s Resort! When it was time for him to move in, the guys were right there to help. They even threw him a housewarming party and blessed him with a $100 gift card. That is what we mean by a community that serves as a pathway to healing! I like to call this group “Christ and the Boys!” They are truly men of God, and I am incredibly proud of each one of them.

These men are taking ownership of their community and setting an example worthy ofimitation. Just recently, they stepped up again to help Keri, a single mother, and her little boy move into their new apartment.

I am surrounded by miracles here at God’s Resort, and “Christ and the Boys” are just one more beautiful example of many!Thank you for making it possible for these lives to change! To give a special gift to help create life change at God’s Resort, click here or contact john@godsresortjoplin.org.

Community Partnership in Action: Jasper County Treatment Court Serves at God’s Resort

We were honored to welcome the Jasper County Treatment Court Team, who spent part of their day serving alongside us.  Their team worked diligently to clean and prepare three homes that will soon welcome new residents beginning their journey toward stability, recovery, and hope at God’s Resort. Many people only see the finished product when a family or individual moves into one of our homes, but there is a tremendous amount of work that happens behind the scenes.  Homes must be cleaned, prepared, and made ready before new residents arrive.  Thanks to the hard work and servant hearts of the Jasper County Treatment Court Team, these homes will soon provide safe, welcoming spaces for those seeking a fresh start.

The Jasper County Treatment Court is an innovative program designed to help individuals overcome substance use disorders and other challenges that have contributed to involvement in the criminal justice system.  Rather than focusing solely on punishment, Treatment Court combines accountability, treatment, support services, and regular court supervision to help participants achieve long-term recovery and become productive members of the community.  Participants work hard to meet program requirements, maintain sobriety, secure employment, rebuild relationships, and establish healthy lifestyles.

At God’s Resort, we deeply value partnerships with organizations that believe in restoration and second chances.  The mission of Treatment Court aligns closely with our own commitment to helping individuals and families build stable, healthy, and productive lives.

We are incredibly grateful for the Jasper County Treatment Court Team’s willingness to invest their time and energy into our community.  Their service not only helped prepare homes, but it helped create environments where lives can be transformed.

Thank you, Jasper County Treatment Court Team, for your partnership, your dedication to recovery and restoration, and your commitment to serving others. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

This month, we’re excited to spotlight our incredible partnership Atlas Safe Room

This month, we are proud to recognize Atlas Safe Rooms as our Partner of the Month! At God’s Resort, our mission is about creating safe, stable environments where individuals and families can rebuild their lives.  Thanks to the generosity and partnership of Atlas Safe Rooms, that mission was strengthened in a very tangible way through the installation of a brand-new tornado shelter for our residents.

Living in southwest Missouri, severe weather is a reality we face each year.  This shelter provides more than protection from storms; it provides peace of mind, security, and confidence for the families who call God’s Resort home.
What makes this partnership especially meaningful is the story behind it.  One of the individuals involved in the installation was Austin Bond, a former God’s Resort resident who successfully transitioned from our program and is now helping serve others through his work with Atlas Safe Rooms.
Seeing Austin return, not as a resident, but as a professional helping provide safety and hope for current residents was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.  His journey reflects the life transformation that is possible when people are given support, opportunity, and encouragement.
Last month, we celebrated the completion of the shelter with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking not only a significant improvement to our campus but also a meaningful partnership that will impact lives for years to come.
Thank you, Atlas Safe Rooms, for investing in our residents, believing in our mission, and helping create a safer future for the families we serve. We are grateful for your partnership and the difference you are making in our community.

Blessings Flow at The Well

The Well has been blessed to receive grants totaling $12,000 from the Corley Foundation and the Lemons Family Foundation. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and support of our mission.

The $4,000 grant from the Corley Foundation will help cover the cost of remodeling our dining room to better accommodate our growing program. Our current space becomes crowded when we are at capacity, and this expansion will ensure that all residents can comfortably sit and share meals together as a community.

The $8,000 grant from the Lemons Family Foundation will assist with upgrading our security system, helping us continue to provide a safe and secure environment for the women we serve.

We have also been blessed by the incredible volunteers who regularly invest their time and talents into the lives of our residents. This month, we would like to spotlight Linda Tucker, who faithfully works with our ladies teaching them how to crochet. While crocheting is a fun and creative hobby, it also provides important benefits such as stress relief, confidence building, and a sense of accomplishment through learning a new skill.

Linda, along with our other dedicated volunteers, is helping build a strong sense of community while equipping our residents with valuable skills and encouragement. We are always looking for more people who would like to pour into the lives of the women we serve and make a lasting impact.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that Emily has recently been promoted to the Health and Education Phase! Through hard work and dedication, she successfully completed the Rest and Serve Phase and is now continuing her journey of personal growth and development.
In this new phase, Emily is gaining valuable life skills, including Bible study methods, understanding how our government works, job readiness, budgeting, the importance of oral health, and many other practical topics that will support her future success.

We are proud of Emily for her commitment to strengthening her relationship with Christ and for her determination to gain the knowledge and skills needed to move toward greater independence. Congratulations, Emily, on this well-deserved accomplishment!

A Glimpse into God’s Resort Youth!

June was packed FULL of joy, Jesus and FUN! We attended 3 separate camps, hosted a VBS, and continued learning more about what it means to be a godly leader. Our VBS was all about finding the truth in God’s Word and about God answering all our questions! This month may have been busy, but we have enjoyed every minute of this beautiful weather! God has been answering our prayers with all the wonderful conversations we have been able to have with our kids and teens at God’s Resort.

A HUGE thank you to all our amazing volunteers! We couldn’t have hosted a VBS or sent our kids to camp without YOU! Your prayers and service are SO important, and our God’s Resort kids LOVE spending time with you. Please continue praying over our kids as they enter spaces where they encounter the love and peace of Christ!

Consider partnering with us by volunteering to serve on Monday or Wednesday nights with our kids! To get plugged in or if you have any questions, please contact Machaela Cantu, Community Engagement Coordinator, at machaela@godsresortjoplin.org. Thank you!

God is always doing a new thing!! At God’s Resort, we have the privilege of witnessing lives being transformed through recovery, discipleship, stable housing, and the loving support of a Christ-centered community. Each resident’s journey is a testimony of God’s faithfulness – bringing freedom from past struggles, restoring relationships, and establishing new foundations for a hopeful future. Like a tree planted by streams of water, growth often happens gradually, but the fruit becomes evident as lives are rooted more deeply in Christ.

These stories of transformation are also stories of worship. Worship is more than the songs we sing; it is the daily surrender of our lives to God and our response to His grace. Every step of obedience, every act of service, every volunteer who gives their time, and every supporter who partners with this ministry becomes part of an offering of praise to the Lord. As we celebrate the growth God is producing in and through God’s Resort this summer, we invite you to join us in worship by praying, serving, and giving thanks for the lives He is making new. “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19).

We would love for you to join the worship and community happening at God’s Resort this summer! Whether you’re a worship leader, musician, tech volunteer, student, parent, or someone who simply loves to praise Jesus, there’s a place for you here. Come be part of what God is doing this season!
