We are humbled at what God is doing at His Resort!! With that we are so very grateful that you have chosen to partner with us in making a difference – not just for generations, but for eternity!
Some stories are just worth telling again! In fact, you will hear more from Jamie and Katrina Vera at the Celebration and Tours coming October 4-6. I pray you can come – I want you to be encouraged and inspired by what only God can do!
Jamie and Katrina started using drugs in their early teens. Jamie spent a lot of time in trouble and finally in prison. As far as his relationship with God went, Jamie said he told Katrina, “Me and God have an understanding. I won’t go into His house, and He won’t come into mine.” Life went downhill fast as their relationship became so toxic that Katrina put a protective order against Jamie. Hopelessness drove Jamie to the river with his gun to end his misery. Through God’s intervention, God saved his life! Shortly after, in a Refuel Prayer service at God’s Resort, Jamie encountered God and it wasn’t 24 hours later he gave his life to Christ!!
Katrina was amazed at this new man because she had rarely seen him not high and not angry. This was proof to her that God is real! Jamie baptized Katrina into Christ – both are miracles! They came to live at God’s Resort with their two little ones, Ben and Olivia. They say, “At God’s Resort we began to learn how to have normal, healthy human relationships … we are so grateful for the stability we gained at God’s Resort.”
Jamie has had his job over four years with several promotions! Katrina is in the process of finishing her degree in social work at Pitt State! Of God’s Resort they say, “We are extremely grateful our kids are getting raised exactly the opposite of how we were raised. We couldn’t have made it without God’s Resort because of the help, community, and accountability.”
Thank you for your prayers, your love and support! For the Veras and those who are coming behind them who need that kind of love, God bless you!!
Love and prayer,
Jay St. Clair Executive Director
We Hope to See You at The Celebration and Tours Next Week!
On October 4th (6pm), 5th (10am), or 6th (2pm), join us for one of three identical events at our annual Celebration and Tours – We Believe for MORE. Come hear and see what has been happening at God’s Resort, and why we believe God is wanting to do “immeasurably MORE than we can ask or even imagine” (Eph. 3:20)! We hope you can make it out! We are excited to welcome Machaela Cantu to our staff as our Volunteer Coordinator! Machaela will help initiate and foster relationships with potential volunteers, including making connections through local churches and other community organizations. She will support God’s Resort staff as she provides direct leadership and ongoing appreciation of volunteers in their ministry areas. She is also an official court reporter in Jasper County and is looking forward to advocating and partnering with God’s Resort. Machaela’s family has been attending God’s Resort and volunteering on a regular basis for about a year, and the family says that they “absolutely fell in love with the ministry as soon as they walked in the door.” She and her husband, Jeremy, have been together since 2007, and they have one son named Ethan. Machaela and Jeremy have always believed in the power of community engagement, a value they have dedicated to instilling in Ethan from an early age. Machaela and Jeremy hope to cultivate their son’s sense of compassion and inspire him to take an active role in making the world a better place. Their family attends Hope City Church and enjoys serving at the church. We are excited for you to you meet Machaela!
We are also happy to share that Seldon Harris is shifting from a part-time role to our full-time Facilities Manager. Seldon has worked with our facilities staff for about 3 years, utilizing his 25 years of experience in construction to help us provide safe and dignified housing. He has been married to his wife, Vanessa, for 37 years, and they have four children and four grandchildren. In his free time Seldon enjoys hunting, fishing, and pretty much anything outdoors. Seldon has also served as a pastor for 30 years and he continues to invest as a mentor and leader in various capacities of Kingdom work. His heart is for family and ministry. He has already made a significant impact on our work here at God’s Resort and we are eager to see what God does with him in this new role. Join us in celebrating Seldon in his new role!

Love Your Neighbor Day Recap
We recently hosted our annual Love Your Neighbor Day Event, and it was truly incredible to witness the outpouring of support from the community. Throughout the day, we felt God’s presence guiding us as we worked together to complete essential projects within the God’s Resort community. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the generous supply donations from local businesses, we were able to achieve so much. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the following businesses: Atwoods, Habitat for Humanity, Sherwin Williams, and B&B Discount. Additionally, we were able to provide a sponsored lunch for all our volunteers, courtesy of Millwood Co. Roofing and Construction. Lastly, James River Church delivered some groceries and prayers for our residents! What a great day! We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support of all our God’s Resort backers and their love for the ministry! Thank you!
