Dear God’s Resort Friends,
We are so grateful for your love and support for the community of God’s Resort! We exist so people can choose freedom from the past and reach their potential as children of God! Brendan Rendon is one of those people!
Brendan grew up with a single mom who tried to raise three kids. In their poverty, they moved around a lot and there was no stability. It was like the devil tried to stop his life as he was just getting started. Brendan says, “Because of generational sin and curses, I was in so much hurt
and trouble, that from age 12 to age 17 I was in the state’s custody.” A darkness consumed him. He lost a little girl and all his relationships and ended up drawing a two-year prison term. When he got out on parole, he dove deeper into his addictions and hated life, going from one high and relationship to another. He moved to Texas to try and start over, but things only worsened. In a span of two years, he had five near death experiences. This included bullets missing him by inches and two terrible car accidents. “I didn’t care to live, and I couldn’t stop my addictions because I needed to stay numb to deal with my past. I knew death was my only way out.”
Brendan says he has known all of his life that God has been calling him. He could see where God would rescue him from things, always letting him know that He was real. But he said, “I really didn’t believe that I was worth saving.” He ended up – by a miracle – going to the Forge. He surrendered and asked God to change him and take away the mental strongholds that had kept him stuck his whole life. Slowly, God did just that and turned Brendan’s hopelessness into hope!
Coming to God’s Resort, Brendan says, “God’s Resort is my community of healing that has helped me grow deeper into Jesus. This community is what I needed because I am surrounded by people who think like I do and want what I want. It is my place of refuge that has helped me stay accountable to stay straight and meet my goals with God’s help.”
Brendan is getting ready to leave God’s Resort to reunite with his wife and family. He wants to go to Bible College! “I don’t know how it will happen, but I want to be in street ministry in this area because this is where I got messed up and this is where I found Jesus. I want to save the people who have given up on life like I once had! God will show me how.”
