November 2024

Dear Friends of God’s Resort,

We are so grateful for your love and prayers for all that God is doing here!  Without you, we could not do what we are doing! God is certainly using you!

Brittney says that she had a rebellious spirit all of her life, which has led to very bad friendships, juvenile detention, nine assault charges before she was the age of 18, prison time, and a meth addiction. She lost everything, including and especially her boys. It was a vicious cycle that took her through 13 drug treatment programs and a reputation that would result in those closest to her saying, “Never trust Brittney.”She was lost, alone, and hopeless. Even when she wanted to be clean, she found herself chained to the darkness of her past.

A group of people posing for a photoDescription automatically generatedThings began to change when one of her friends became demon possessed, and she realized that she had no way to help him nor protect herself. She began to earnestly seek God and she found HimJesus changed her life. After Brittney graduated from one of our partner ministries, she came to live at God’s Resort! She says, “At God’s Resort, I have found a loving family and a community that has helped me follow through on my relationship with Jesus. They have taught me how to live life as it should be lived – with God at the center. I have found my best friends in the world!”

My nickname for Brittney is Sunshine because you can’t miss the light of Jesus in her!She is successful in her job and has become a leader!  In her time at God’s Resort, she has reconnected and has a loving relationship with her boys and family! She says of her family, “Now they can trust me!” We recently celebrated with her as she transitioned from her time at God’s Resort and moved into her new Habitat for Humanity home with her boys!

Thank you for making real life change possible through Jesus Christ and a community with Him at the center of it! Only Heaven will be able to tell the whole story of God’s love in Brittney’s life and in so many more lives because of your partnership! Do you want to hear more stories like Brittney’s? We are hiring!

Two exceptional service groups dedicated their time to God’s Resort!

On November 1st, All Seasons Signs and Printing showed up to tackle outdoor projects and helped us prepare for winter
. With two groups working throughout the day, their impact was significant! They stained new railings (including a new two-story railing), washed exterior doors, raked leaves, power-washed the garage, and so much more. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the employees of All Seasons Signs for their outstanding efforts!

Then, on November 9th, a life group from Hope City Church showed up and helped with several key projects. Despite the rain from the night before and continuing on the morning of their service, they arrived ready to contribute! Some raked leaves while others worked inside cleaning homes. With residents transitioning from God’s Resort, it is crucial to get the homes ready for new families – and this group rose to the occasion by cleaning the interior of two properties! Their commitment enabled us to move new families into their homes much quicker than we could have without the help of these volunteers. A big thank you to this life group for their unwavering dedication to serve, regardless of the circumstances!

If you are part of a group that wants to make a meaningful impact together, reach out to Machaela Cantu, our Volunteer Coordinator, and she will facilitate the arrangements. You can email her here: machaela@godsresortjoplin.org.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
