July 2024

Dear God’s Resort Friends,

There is so much to thank God for as He, through this community, helps people choose freedom from their past and reach their potential as children of God! Thank you for allowing God to use you in partnership with us!!

Kenna was born into a very abusive family. After experiencing a lot of that abuse, God rescued her, through adoption, into a wonderful Christian family. However,  the brokenness of all the sin and trauma that was heaped on that little girl had already taken a toll. Her new family struggled with how to help her and ended up in what seemed to be a dead-end cycle. In its own right, that became very discouraging.

Just as The Well at God’s Resort was opening, this desperate family reached out to us for a visit and tour. A new light of hope dawned on their situation. After an application and interview, Kenna was accepted into The Well!

What a blessing she has been to us!! She is working through many issues, including physical and mental health, and relational challenges, yet God has been right in the middle of it – helping her spiral up! She is a huge blessing to the wider God’s Resort community as she serves in significant ways! Also, she now has a job, and is so successful that she is being promoted to a trainer!  She is a young lady who was facing a lifetime of government disability, with all of the baggage and limitations it entails, but now has an increasingly bright future of productive work and God-given dreams! Well staff, Noi Welch and Stephanie Corral, have done an excellent job of discipleship. The volunteer staff who have invested in her have also been a tremendous support and blessing.

“Kenna the Winna” is her God’s Resort given nickname! She even has a song we have given her and here are some of the lyrics: “Kenna is the Winna Woman…the Winna Woman all the time!… we like to see, Kenna Win!” If you would like to hear the full song, click here! She looks forward to finishing the program at the Well and coming to live independently in her own apartment at God’s Resort!!

Kenna has met Jesus at The Well at God’s Resort and because He won, she does too!! May God continue to bless Kenna the Winna and all those God continues to bring for healing and hope!  Thank you, dear friends!!To see more about what’s up here, scan this QR code with your phone camera.

Love and prayer,

Jay St. Clair

Two Recent Gifts to God’s Resort!

Jason and Heidi Ansley, through their Monster Games fitness event, gave a tremendous donation to God’s Resort this month! The Monster Games recently hosted over 800 athletes, and they raised $20,000 for God’s Resort! Wow! Thank you, Jason, Heidi, and all who contributed! This gift will help us support our residents as they seek to choose freedom from their past and reach their potential as children of God!

We also express our appreciation for Southwest Missouri Bank and the W.R. Corley Memorial Trust for a generous donation of $2,300 to help us with much-needed repairs and updates to one of our homes. This helps us keep with our core values of providing safe, affordable, and dignified housing to the Joplin community! Thank you!

Jay and Julie Honored

What a joy it was to see our Directors, Jay and Julie St. Clair, recognized and honored for their 40 years of ministry in the Joplin community! Their family hosted a reception at College Heights Christian Church, where their ministry began. Their impact was evident by the hundreds of people who attended to show their appreciation! We are grateful for their “YES!” to God’s calling on their lives, and for their continued commitment and investment — not just at God’s Resort but into the greater Joplin area!
