April 2026

Dear Partner and Friend of God’s Resort,

What a joy it is to celebrate the new life Jesus brings! At God’s Resort, we witness the miracles of His love every day, and we are so grateful for your partnership in this mission.

We want to share Myra’s story with you—a journey of resilience and restoration. After years of struggling in the darkness with mental health challenges and drug addiction that led to cycles of homelessness, Myra sought a fresh start.

Through the support of local recovery programs and her time here at God’s ResortMyra is truly thriving. Jesus has truly been her Savior and has helped her escape her past. She is working full-time and focusing on a single goal: reuniting with her daughter, Sophia. She even hopes to one day have a Habitat for Humanity home!

Myra recently shared:
“I am so blessed to be part of this community! It is an unexplainable feeling to know how loved and supported I am… people here help me stand when I am weak. There is no place like God’s Resort!”

Thank you for providing a place of hope for Myra and so many others. Your generosity makes these miracles possible. If you want to give a special gift to help residents like Myra at God’s Resort, click here or contact john@godsresortjoplin.org.

With love and prayer,

Jay St. Clair

Volunteer Spotlight: Every Volunteer at God’s Resort
Celebrating Our Volunteers This April
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and at God’s Resort, we simply couldn’t let it pass without saying thank you.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. From those who faithfully clean and prepare homes, to those who pour love into our children, to our compassionate faith nurses who care for both body and spirit, to the many hands that keep our office running smoothly. Each role matters more than words can fully express.

Because of you, our residents experience kindness, dignity, and hope in tangible ways every single day. You show up with willing hearts, servant spirits, and a commitment that makes a lasting impact on this community.

We are so grateful for each of you. Thank you for being the hands and feet that help make God’s Resort a place of healing and restoration.

This month, we’re excited to spotlight our incredible partnership with Ryan Miller State Farm.
This month, we are excited to spotlight our incredible partnership with the Ryan Miller State Farm Team.

This group first became interested in the mission of God’s Resort, came for a tour, and has been there for us ever since. Their generosity and willingness to step in and serve have made a meaningful impact on our community.

Last year, as the new school year approached, we had a dream to provide each of our resident children with new outfits, socks, and a new pair of shoes to start school. When the Ryan Miller State Farm Team heard about this, they didn’t hesitate. They personally shopped for each child, making that dream a reality in such a thoughtful and personal way.

They also partnered with us during our Christmas Shoppe, helping adopt and bless both parents and children during the holiday season and have been seen cleaning apartments for new residents.

Most recently, they have agreed to sponsor dinner for our upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Because of their generosity, we are also able to partner with The Lord’s Kitchen Food Truck to provide the meal. This is especially meaningful, as The Lord’s Kitchen has already blessed our residents by serving free meals during several Sunday Night Fellowship events.

What a beautiful full-circle moment.

Stay tuned for next month as we highlight more about The Lord’s Kitchen Food Truck and the impact they are making!

Holiday Host Families for The Well Ladies

The women at The Well joyfully celebrated Easter, honoring our risen Savior by attending church together and spending the afternoon with a generous holiday host family. This year’s holiday gathering was especially meaningful, as it was hosted by Jenni, a former Well resident, together with her extended family. We are incredibly proud of the progress Jenni made during her time in the program, and we are overjoyed to see her thriving and giving back by serving the women currently at The Well.

The family warmly opened their home, sharing a meal and meaningful fellowship with the group. The afternoon was filled with laughter and connection, as one woman delighted everyone with stories about animals while another added to the joy by playing the ukulele.

We are deeply grateful for our volunteers, who help expand the circle of healthy, supportive relationships that the women at The Well are building. Holiday hosts play a vital role in creating new, positive memories—something especially meaningful for those who may associate past holidays with difficult experiences. By opening their homes, our holiday hosts provideopportunities for the women to experience Christ-centered celebrations and healthy family interactions that are both impactful and life-changing.

For more information about becoming a holiday host, please contact Trina Davis at trina@godsresortjoplin.org.

God’s Resort Youth

April has been a BLAST! We kicked off the month with Resurrection Sunday, an open jump at Helix, AND then finished studying the book of Acts! We have been beyond blessed by the kindness and generosity of our volunteers, donors, and prayer partners! Your consistent prayers over our kids is exactly what they need! From building bird houses to hosting Easter egg hunts and all the in between continues to point the kids at God’s Resort to a life of surrendering to Jesus. We are thankful for all the examples of faith-filled lives our volunteers display.

We have begun the sign-up process for our students to go to camp! What an amazing opportunity that our kids have to dig deeper into the WORD and build godly communities with kids their own age. We are so thankful for the generosity of those at College Heightswho helped make this possible for our youth! Please consider partnering with us in prayer as we seek families to serve with us this summer! This will be a great opportunity to serve the Kingdom through loving our kids. Also, please pray over our kids as they enter the final stretch of the school year. They need prayers for confidence and focus as they start testing and major projects.

If you’re interested in getting involved with our youth, or have any questions, please contact Machaela Cantu, Community Engagement Coordinator, at machaela@godsresortjoplin.org. Thank you!

At God’s Resort, transformation begins with a choice – the choice to step out of the past and into the life God has prepared. One of the most powerful ways this transformation takes place is through authentic worship. Not polished or performative, but real worship that rises from a place of need, surrender, and even desperation. It’s in those honest moments that walls begin to fall, hearts begin to soften, and God’s presence meets people right where they are.

As we look back to Easter, this message comes into sharp focus. The resurrection is the ultimate picture of freedom—proof that no past is too broken, no life too far gone, and no situation beyond redemption. Just as the stone was rolled away, we see that same power at work every day in our community. Lives once marked by struggle are being renewed. Hope is being restored. Freedom is becoming reality.

At God’s Resort, worship is more than a service – it’s a lifeline. It’s where burdens are laid down and identity is reclaimed. It’s where people encounter the truth that they are not defined by their past, but by God’s love and purpose for their future.

This month, we celebrate not only what Christ has done, but what He is continuing to do. Resurrection is not just a story we remember – it’s a promise we live. And here, in this community, we see that promise unfolding every day.

Freedom is possible. New life is real. And through Christ, the story is never over!

We would love for you to join in the worship going on at God’s Resort! Whether you’re a worship leader, musician, tech volunteer, or someone who simply loves to praise Jesus, there’s a place for you here. Come be part of what God is doing here this season! To get connected, email jon-michael@godsresortjoplin.org or call 417-553-4080.
