April 2024
Dear God’s Resort Friends,
We always thank God for you as you join us with your gifts of love and prayer to help people through this Christ-centered community, choose freedom from their past and reach their potential as children of God! Generations are changing thanks to Christ in you!
Ally’s parents split up when she was a little girl. By the time she was a teenager, she was hanging with the wrong crowd, and it wasn’t long until she was addicted to heroin and meth. Her lifestyle led her to people and places that took her to a dark place of addiction and dysfunction. She was in and out of jail, and after getting into an abusive relationship, she spiraled further down to the point she was facing a felony charge and prison.
Then Jesus came and redeemed her out of the pit that had buried her. “Jesus is grace to me that I didn’t deserve,” she says. Through loving family support, she came to God’s Resort. While here, through her stability plan and the community, her family is reunited, and they are thriving! She is a great mom!! Ally says, “My boys help me grow in grace everyday as I learn how much Jesus loves me, in my love for them.” She is a team lead at Chick-fil-A and will soon be married to a wonderful Christian man, Yael, whom she met at work there!
We recently had a transition celebration for Ally as she moves to the next thing God has for her! This is some of her heart she has expressed about living here: “God’s Resort was my second chance for me and my boys. This has been a steppingstone for me because I couldn’t have been
in college and better myself without it. The community really has helped me get where I couldn’t have gotten by myself,”
Thank you for your support, love and prayers for Ally and her boys as well as so many others you help by your compassion and commitment to what God is doing here!
Love and prayer,

Volunteer Training Success!
We say this a lot, but it is true EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! What would we do without our volunteers?! We can’t imagine…. God is resort is better every day because of our volunteers! Thank you! We had a wonderful volunteer training event on Saturday, April 20th, led by our spring
intern from Ozark Christian College, Mackenzie Richars. This event welcomed new and interested volunteers, as well as encouraged and informed current volunteers. We focused on general safety guidelines, and we broke into smaller teams for trainings and discussions on focus areas such as working with children, worship and tech, facilities, reception volunteers, and more!
Thanks to everyone who came out! If you were not able to attend but are interested in volunteering, please check out our website, godsresort.org, or call Jon-Michael at 417-553-4080, or email him at Jon-Michael@godsresortjoplin.org.
Martin Luther Christian School Serve Team
Thank you to MLCS for sending over a team of two teacher and nine 5th -7th graders to help us pull weeds in some flower beds and a playground area, as well as lay down some new mulch. They were a lot of fun and did a great job! God bless you! Come back and see us!
