Dear God’s Resort Friends,

As we count our blessings, we could never fully express our gratitude for your partnership! Together, we are helping people through this Christ-centered community, find freedom from the past and reach their potential as children of God! May God bless you!!

Andrew and his son lived from a place of isolation and despair. Andrew never knew his father and lived with his mother who had cancer and struggled mentally. Recently, he showed me a picture of him and his son on their first day together after he got custody of him. He told me, “Look at me, you can tell I had no idea what I was doing or what I was going to do.” Andrew’s mom, because of her own unresolved issues, treated Andrew with contempt. Following her death, he was left with an orphan spirit. He needed God’s family.

He was referred to us through a Christian in the social services area. When he first arrived at God’s Resort, he kept to himself. His relationship with God was nothing and his only family lived in states far away. It seemed there wasn’t anything going his way. Now, he no longer sits off alone. Instead, you find him right in the middle of us! Not long ago he told me that he was no longer a druid, but believed that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again! If you come to God’s Resort, I hope you get to meet Andrew and his son, because Andrew is a great Daddy to him, and you can tell he is loved! Andrew has broken the orphan curse over his son!!

It is through your prayers, financial support, and the countless other ways you show love that we are seeing miracles happen in the lives of Andrew, his son, and so many others! Thank you!!!

Love and prayers,
Jay St. Clair
Executive Director

God’s Resort Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

We had a wonderful time with our residents, their families, and other friends and neighbors of God’s Resort at our annual Thanksgiving Dinner! This is absolutely one of our favorite events! People from various walks of life come together to feast, fellowship, and give thanks to our great God who makes it all possible. The smiling faces testify to the great time had by all! A special thank you goes out to Amy Cook (Life Transition Team Lead) and the volunteers that helped make the event possible. So, if you gave money towards food, provided food, cooked food, or helped with decorations or setting up – we thank YOU! May God bless you!

Christmas Is Around The Corner…

As we shared last month, our Christmas Shoppes will be in full operation Saturday, December 3rd ! There will be two Christmas Shoppes: one for our residents to shop for their kiddos at discounted rates, and one for the kiddos to shop for their parents or caregivers with the “Christmas Bucks” they have earned the last few months. This is a wonderful event! If you’d like to volunteer at either of the Shoppes, please contact Julie at julie@godsresortjoplin.org. We’re also looking forward to our resident Christmas Party on Friday, December 16th . We still have opportunities for volunteers at this event as well. So, if you’re interested, please reach out to Amy Cook at amy@godsresortjoplin.org. You may also reach out to Julie or Amy by calling the office at 417-553-4080. Thank you for considering!

Thank You Arvest Bank!

Arvest Bank gave a $1000 gift in honor of their Board of Directors for Christmas! This gift was specifically given for the Christmas Shoppe kids edition at God’s Resort. The money will be used to purchase gifts for the children of God’s Resort to shop for their parents with the “Christmas Bucks” they have earned and saved in the last three months! Thank you, Arvest, for investing in the future by helping create healthy understanding about the responsibility of earning, saving, and giving! Thank you to all who gave memorial gifts on behalf of Peggy LaVelle – a dear friend of God’s Resort.
