Dear Friends of God’s Resort,

We are so thankful for your heart investment! God’s Resort will remain faithful to our mission to help people through this Christ-centered community choose freedom from their past and reach their potential as a child of God!

Amanda was raised in a good home, but at the age of five, the darkness of evil fell on her as a neighbor sexually abused her. It broke her trust in people. She began to hold things inside, so the secrets and  wounds to her soul increased. As a teenager she began to medicate those wounds with people and drugs; always disappointed in people who shared the same demons and brokenness. She descended into addiction that she could not control, and she lost everything including her little boy.

In that pit, Jesus said to her, “Enough is enough.” She went to the Dream Center and there she was challenged to surrender everything to God. When she did, she said it was like a weight was lifted off!  She saw Jesus standing there in front of her, and the Holy Spirit filled her. He let her know He had always been with her and was waiting for her to surrender.

Now, Amanda lives at God’s Resort!! Her heart’s dream is to continue to help as many people as she can understand the power of prayer and love to get people through the most terrible problems. God is restoring her relationships and bringing healing to every area of her life. Amanda is a huge blessing to this community and says, “God’s Resort is my comforting home. It is a place that I feel accepted and loved. They never judge me, and they want to me to succeed and prosper. At God’s Resort I am soaring with God!”

Amanda’s favorite Scripture is Luke 15:7: In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

We rejoice with Heaven in Amanda’s new life that she is thriving in here! Thank you for rejoicing with us in love and prayers for Amanda and the many more who God is blessing and will bless here!

Parenting God’s Way Seminar

Jarrett and Amy Cook recently taught a seminar for our parents called Parenting God’s Way. They are both on the board, with Jarrett serving as president of the board. Having raised two wonderful young adults who have “left the nest,” and still raising another seven at home, they came equipped with much experience, and Biblical principles and practical advice on parenting. They not only taught, but encouraged and welcomed questions, creating a powerful time of sharing. Thank you, Jarrett and Amy! We love you and very grateful for your investments in God’s Resort!

Supplies Needed for New Residents

One of our favorite moments is welcoming our new family members to God’s Resort! You can play a part in that by helping us stock what is needed for their homes, as we are short on some supplies. Here is a list of what’s needed. Items can be dropped off at God’s Resort (1501 S. Pearl, Joplin) during office hours (M-Th, 9-4, Fri, 9-noon – closed M-Th 12-1 for lunch).
