We are so grateful for your partnership in helping people in this Christ-centered community choose freedom from the past and reach their potential as children of God. God is good through your love and support!
With the retirement of Life Transition Coordinator, Barbara Cox, we are grateful to welcome Jenn Sherrod as our newest Life Transition Coordinator! Jenn was actually the first person I baptized as a new youth minister 40 years ago! We have walked through her journey with its pain and joy! Her story is one of God’s redeeming love! Jenn can empathize with the stories of many of our ladies because her story is similar. Her compassion and love are unwavering. In earlier years of ministry together we both nicknamed each other “Christch”, short for Christian!
Jenn has just retired from 26 years teaching elementary children in Joplin schools! Jenn says, “I volunteered with GR for so long and built so many relationships that my heart is there and that is where I want to be.” She feels God has called her here and we agree! Her husband Jon and son Levi are also faithful volunteers! Please welcome and pray for Jenn as she begins June 9th.
It is because of your support that we are able to hire such a wonderful addition to our team! We are excited to see the impact that Jenn will continue to have on our women at God’s Resort! Exciting New Partnership Announcement!
We are thrilled to share some incredible news with our God’s Resort family! God’s Resort has partnered with Croft Mattress to bless our incoming residents in a big way!
Through this generous new partnership, Croft Mattress will be donating a custom-comfort mattress to God’s Resort for every mattress they sell! This means every new resident will receive the comfort and dignity of a brand-new mattress as they begin their journey with us!
Croft Mattress is locally owned and operated in the Southwest, and we are so grateful for their heart to give back to the community in such a meaningful way.

The Well
Heroes Behind the Scenes
When we think about our volunteers at the Well, we think about the Scripture that says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Eph 2:10). Our volunteers have done what God has called them to do, and The Well could not fulfill its calling to disciple women without each and every one of them. Each one of them has brought gifts, love, care, and commitment, and so this newsletter celebrates our volunteers who have devoted their time and comfort to serve God. Even though they come from different churches in the Joplin area, they serve The Well together as the Body of Christ! God’s heart is that his church is to be a light for those in darkness, and he delights in seeing his children work together for the sake of those who are lost and hurting, healing the broken.
Some of our volunteers are gifted listeners, and some of them are great mentors. Some help cook dinner, and some help plant flowers. Some drive our residents to their appointments and to the grocery store, and some even stay overnight at The Well. We keep hearing from our residents just how loving and servant-hearted our volunteers are! They are Kingdom Partners, and they are making a huge difference in the lives of our residents. Through them, the women at The Well experience God’s unconditional love.
They are not only making a difference with The Well residents, but they are also making a difference for The Well staff. They give us time for rest as they share in the work of leading and shepherding our residents. They ensure that The Well can continue to be committed to this ministry for a long time. To simply say “Thank You!” is not enough to express our gratitude for each one of them. God’s Resort Youth
Create to Educate
For God so loved the world … He gave! We believe that it is truly “more blessed to give than to receive.” One of our values at God’s Resort is for everyone to serve others in some way. So, when the opportunity came for our children to give to other children by partnering with Steve and Cindy Head through their non-profit, Create to Educate, it was a no brainer.
Thirteen of our kiddos created a painting of a sheep, which represented their life as told in Jesus’ parable in Luke 15 about The Lost Sheep. Those paintings will be published in a book, along with paintings made by 87 other children in Joplin and Uganda! The book can be purchased for a $100 donation that will help pay for school supplies for the children in Uganda! This will be the third year that this partnership has successfully blessed children living in Uganda!
Thank you, Steve and Cindy, for the opportunity to expand the borders of the world to the children of God’s Resort!

Are you able to help supply some items to prepare homes at God’s Resort for new residents? Here is a list of items that we currently need. Items can be dropped off at the God’s Resort Community Center (1501 S. Pearl, Joplin) Mon-Thurs, 9-noon or 1-4, and Friday, 9-noon. Thank you for any items you can provide!
