August 2024

Dear Friends of God’s Resort,

We are so grateful for you and your partnership in loving people and helping them, through this Christ-centered community, choose freedom from the past and reach their potential as children of God. May God bless you!

If you meet James, you meet a true man of God, but it wasn’t always that way. His father abandoned him when he was very young, and he was raised by a busy, overwhelmed mom. When his grandma died, who was his stability, anger and rebellion took over. In that lost place, evil influences in his life led him to alcohol, drugs, and sex. He says he hit bottom and worse several times, finding himself waking up in an alley with absolutely nothing, or living in a drainage ditch or a drug trap house.

After breaking his probation for the third time and in jail facing prison time, he finally cried out to God, and God answered immediately! God delivered James from the darkness before he ever got out of jail! “Jesus is my everything! He didn’t just get me off meth, but got me out of all the things that had twisted themselves around me as a result of the dark world I had lived in. He brought me into the light!” After a time in the Forge, as part of our partnership with them, he came to live at God’s Resort!

James had his transition celebration recently and what a party it was!! We celebrate his complete reconciliation with his family! We celebrate his stable employment and financial stability! We celebrate that fact that he is now a homeowner and has a bright future ahead of him!

James said about God’s Resort, “God’s Resort has been the greatest blessing to me! I needed this community that cares about me and wants me, because this is where I am finding healing. The Refuel Prayer service on Tuesday nights has especially helped me have break through moments with God that have helped me grow in Him.”

Without your support and prayers, we could not do what we do! James and many more need the community and love they find here!

Love and prayer,

Jay St. Clair Executive Director

Financial Peace Classes

Many come to live at God’s Resort with significant debt, little or no savings, and credit scores that need a boost. From day one we begin to help them track their spending, and move towards living on a budget if they are not currently doing so. A key resource we offer in this area are our Financial Peace Classes that we offer several times a year which are designed specifically for our residents. Over the last 12 months we have had over 20 residents graduate from this four-part class! We are grateful for key volunteers Doyle and Glenda Still and Erin Taylor who help lead these classes! Donors of God’s Resort help support this class as we offer an incentive of $100 off of a month’s rent for those who graduate. Here are pictures of some of those graduates!

One of our primary focuses with our residents is helping them gain and sustain financial freedom.
